Kibbutz Volunteer & Hebrew Ulpan is a unique new program that combines our Kibbutz Ulpan program and kibbutz volunteering; the best of both worlds. Participants will learn conversational Hebrew while becoming familiar with kibbutz life. The program takes place in beautiful Kibbutz Ketura, located in the Arava area of southern Israel, 30 minutes north of the Red Sea and the resort town of Eilat. The program accepts healthy young participants (18-35 years old) from all backgrounds. All are welcome!
Program dates: May 1st 2022 - August 1st 2022
Participants in the program will be doing volunteer work on the kibbutz and taking Hebrew classes (ulpan). The formal program is 3 months with an option to stay longer. All participants are required to stay for the entire length of the formal program.
In addition, the program includes trips, seminars and activities such as:
Q&A – Everything you wanted to know about kibbutz (but didn't know how to ask!); kibbutz values in practice and how it actually works, film about Ketura, etc.
Meeting students from AIES (Arava Institute of Environmental Studies). The Arava Institute focuses on environment, sustainability and regional development and cooperation between Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians.
- Informal meet-up with young adults who live on the kibbutz
Local field trips:
Hike through the amazing sand dunes of Nahal Kasui (river) and visit a vegan kibbutz, Neot Smadar
Hike around Yotvata Nature Reserve, site of 6,000 years of human habitation
Hike in the Red Canyon and snorkel in the Red Sea
Visit beautiful Timna National Park at night
An overnight camping trip to either the high Negev or Masada/Ein Gedi (depending on makeup of the group)
Participants in the program will be “adopted” by a host family in the kibbutz.
