Remember back in 2010, when Democrats held the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives by impressive margins?

With 60 votes in the Senate, Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act, protecting those with preexisting conditions and helping more than 20 million people gain insurance coverage.

And a few months later, Republicans won a majority in the House as well as Senate seats. The GOP blocked all meaningful progress in sight, even refusing to hold hearings for Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court — Democrats were stopped at the hands of Mitch McConnell.

And in 2022, our work is at risk again. We could very well see a repeat of the losses we experienced in 2010 and 2014 if Democrats lose steam and grow complacent.

You’ve probably heard this — experts and pundits love to talk about the challenges a President’s party faces in the midterm elections. They talk about November as if it’s already over. But it’s not.
