Hope everyone enjoyed the lovely weather which graced us at the end of last week. The frigid temperatures have returned to remind us that it is still February.

In honor of Black History month, the Arlington Young Democrats are teaming up with the Arlington Dems Black Caucus to host a Black Excellence panel at 6:30pm on Friday, February 25. Check out the event here.

And here’s a politics roundup on what’s happening in the Virginia General Assembly:

• Senate Democrats upheld the right to choose, striking down the GOP’s 20-week abortion ban.
• GOP legislators are threatening to fire 1,000 government appointees after Senate Dems rejected Gov. Youngkin’s pick for Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources, Andrew Wheeler, who is the former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in the Trump administration and a coal lobbyist.
• GOP delegates blocked a bill that would have removed the defunct same-sex marriage ban from Virginia’s constitution.
