PEAK in Community
The latest news about our sector partnerships and how PEAK is advocating for more equitable grantmaking practices at conferences, convenings, and community conversations.
PEAK kicked off the new year by taking part in the GivingData event Transforming Philanthropy Together: Setting 2022 Intentions. President and CEO Satonya Fair joined their Senior Vice President of Client Innovation and Impact Roberto Creminini to talk about how funders can build on the current momentum and use of collaborative energy to set intentions that push forward on advancements that have been decades in the making. The session also included highlights from GivingData's work with foundations that have successfully moved beyond ineffective, legacy practices to achieve more equitable and sustainable outcomes for the communities they support.
The PEAK team joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to participate in their Lunch & Learn series that highlights philanthropy-supporting organizations and core grantee partners. Satonya joined Director of Grants Management Adam Liebling and Knowledge Management Officer Ari Kramer to discuss the evolution of the grants management profession, equitable grantmaking practices, and how each of us in our roles can help operationalize equity.
Interim Programs and Knowledge Director Chantias Ford participated in the orientation for the Nonprofit Pilot of Equitable Evaluation Initiative™ Practice Partners launch. This initiative is designed to build the field of practice around the Equitable Evaluation Framework, a set of three principles and orthodoxies, with the vision of evaluation practice that can better serve toward creating a world in which we can all thrive.
Satonya joined Fluxx cofounder Kerrin Mitchell to kick off season two of their Untapped Philanthropy podcast to talk shop in the episode "How Philanthropy is Shaped by DEI and Technology." Satonya reflected on her career supporting nonprofits and foundations, shared her thoughts on leadership and DEI, and the implications technology has on the work of thousands of grantmakers.
PEAK was honored to support member Hypertherm/HOPE Foundation in a winter learning series for a core group of their nonprofit partners that focused on Narrowing the Power Gap. Their executive and development staff were invited into candid dialogue with Satonya to discuss how to name and address the barriers that nonprofits face when fundraising for their efforts. They also discussed ways to elevate diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to stand in their own power as the experts in the community.
