John, I wish I was writing to you with better news today. This morning I checked in with the team at Brady, and they told me that we came up 812 names short of our 5,000-signature goal to ban assault weapons.
I can't accept that. Brady set this goal in honor of the 17 students and educators killed in Parkland, Florida, four years ago — including my daughter, Jaime. I know I can't bring her back, but I can be part of the movement that finally ends gun violence, and banning assault weapons is a critical part of that. That's why I've dedicated my life to fighting for stronger gun safety laws and why I am reaching out for your help with this goal.
John, I asked the folks at Brady if we could extend this petition deadline just 24 more hours, because we cannot fail the millions of people whose lives depend on us banning assault weapons. They agreed, so now I'm asking personally: Will you add your name to hit this 5,000-signature goal by midnight and demand Congress take action to ban assault weapons and save lives?
Joe Biden was one of the first people to reach out to me after Jaime was shot and killed. I know without a doubt that if we get an assault weapons ban to his desk, he will sign it. But first, we have to hit this goal and send this message to Congress.
Brady knows how to make it happen. But they need your help. I need your help. Please, don't let this moment pass: Add your name now.

Thank you for not giving up,
Fred Guttenberg
