Encouraging news, friend – just a few days ago, the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal ruled that Health Canada must reassess its finding that cancer-linked glyphosate remains “safe.” According to the court, the agency failed to adequately explain why it rejected concerns that glyphosate could cause cancer. The court’s decision is a good start, but it’s not enough. Environmental advocates are concerned that the original decision to re-authorize glyphosate was influenced by Bayer-Monsanto. They’re urging Health Canada to appoint a team of independent scientists to help with their reassessment. The scientific community has publicized glyphosate’s probable link to cancer for years, but Bayer-Monsanto continues to pressure governments to protect their profits, by keeping a wide array of dangerous weedkillers on the market. EWG plans to fight back against Bayer-Monsanto and lax government review processes, but we need your help to do so. We need 5,846 of our top supporters to take this survey on glyphosate by midnight tonight to help us formulate our plan of action. We want to hear your thoughts! |
Thanks for your feedback, friend. –EWG |
