Under the freezing conditions, power generators failed and at least 299 Texans lost their lives.
This tragedy was preventable, but so many Texans suffered as a result of our state government’s failure to act. Ten years earlier, after a similar storm, experts recommended that Texas take steps to weatherize our grid, those recommendations were not heeded, leaving our power grid vulnerable to extreme weather.
And at the start of this month, with freezing temperatures once again passing across North and Central Texas, Texans began to prepare for the possibility of returning to the Stone Age once again because our Governor and other state leaders failed to do all they could to make sure our grid could handle cold weather. It’s malpractice that Texans continue to fear the possibility of losing power when the temperature drops when we know what needs to be done to prevent this.
So we want to know what you think.
Take our 1-Click Poll and let us know: are you satisfied with the steps taken to weatherize Texas’ grid?

As we face increasingly frequent extreme weather events, we need to act accordingly. Thank you for letting us know what you think.
