John -- As we’re wrapping up the first day of early voting down in Texas, let’s take a quick look at the numbers.
A few days ago it was reported that Texas surpassed 17 million registered voters – a record number – ahead of the March 1st primary.
We already know the new voter suppression bill passed by Texas Republicans last year has led to thousands of mail-in-ballot applications getting tossed.
Many people who planned to vote by mail will now have to turn out for in-person early voting to have their vote counted – if we can persuade them to come out.
Voter suppression bills like S.B. 1 are designed to frustrate and demoralize voters so they just give up and don’t participate. I’m sorry to say that it works.
So we have to work that much harder to overcome these barriers and help people make a plan to vote.
That’s how we get Jessica Cisneros and Jessica Mason elected.
After Texas, we’ve got to do it again in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina – just to name a few.
The early vote is going to decide this election, which means we have until February 25th to secure a win for both Cisneros and Mason. Can you pitch in $25 now to turnout for Texas? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: We scored an early victory with Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick’s win in the FL-20 Special Election. BNC’s early support helped Sheila win her primary by just FIVE votes – and those five votes put her in Congress.
Now it’s Texas’ turn.
Let’s win this.
