Hi Friend,
Have you seen what’s happening at Starbucks locations around the country? Workers at more than 80 stores are in the process of forming a union. Some have already unionized, while others are filing for elections or announced plans to organize. What started at a Starbucks in Buffalo, NY just a few months ago has now ignited a national movement.
What we’re witnessing is empowering and speaks to the collective power people have when they come together and want to bargain over what’s possible at work. For too long, Starbucks subjected its workers to increasingly chaotic schedules, an inability to utilize sick time, low wages, and few benefits. Starbucks workers know that a union will go a long way to helping remedy the problems they face.
Starbucks, on the other hand, does not support its workers forming unions. In fact, Starbucks has deployed a massive union-busting campaign at locations throughout the United States and we're here to tell the company to end its awful union-busting tactics.
Sign the petition and tell Starbucks to STOP its awful union-busting NOW!
Armed with its enormous profits, Starbucks is pouring every resource it can into a massive anti-union campaign, ready to do anything it can to prevent workers from forming unions. The coffee shop giant is closing stores, dispatching top executives to discourage unionizing and surveil workers, trying to rig union votes by stacking stores with new employees who are anti-union, punishing union leaders by changing their hours, hosting anti-union meetings, and more.
You name an anti-union tactic and Starbucks is using it.
The company’s even gone so far as to fire the entire organizing committee at a Memphis store simply for speaking to the press about the union campaign.
Starbucks, it's ENOUGH!
We’re joining with organizations around the country to tell Starbucks and its President and CEO Kevin Johnson to halt all union-busting tactics and to stop interfering with workers’ freedom to form and join unions.
Let Starbucks workers know you stand with them and tell the company that its repugnant union-busting campaign must end NOW. Sign the petition.
Thank you for everything you do—especially standing in solidarity with workers.
In Solidarity,
Joel
