Four years ago today, the world watched the news out of Parkland, Florida in horror and in sorrow.

Unfortunately, the tragedy was neither unthinkable nor unimaginable — words once used to describe mass shootings that happen in America’s schools with depressing regularity.

But what has been unimaginable is the response from Congress:

Nothing. Nothing at all.

We have taken great steps in California to make our communities safer from gun violence, but there’s more we must do.

That is why Gavin Newsom is using every tool he can to stop gun violence. Even if it means using the recent Supreme Court decision letting private citizens sue to stop women. If that's the precedent the court wants to set, then we will let Californians sue those who put ghost guns and assault weapons on our streets.
