News from Representative Allred

February 14, 2022

Dear Friend,

Small businesses enrich our communities and power North Texas’ economy. When COVID-19 hit, I took action to pass legislation that would keep these small businesses afloat through the economic hardships– and last Friday, I got a chance to visit a few of them.

I was joined by a special guest, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, the fourth Cabinet official to visit us here in North Texas. We visited small businesses in Lower Greenville, including La La Land Kind Café, Boulangerie – Village Baking Company and Alamo Club and we toured the Richardson Symphony Orchestra at the Eisemann Center, a recipient of the Shuttered Venue Grant program, a program I strongly supported.

I am so glad to see these small businesses open for business and serving North Texans. I am proud to have helped pass the American Rescue Plan that created the Shuttered Venue Grant program and other critical programs like the Restaurant Revitalization Fund so that North Texas small business owners could keep their doors open and their workers employed.

Our small businesses, restaurants and venues are so important to the fabric of our community because they bring people together and they create jobs. I was so honored to show Administrator Guzman around Dallas and Richardson and to hear directly from local small business owners about how SBA programs have helped them through this pandemic, and to listen to their feedback on the important work we need to do to continue this recovery.

If you have any questions or need help working with the SBA, please feel free to give my office a call at (972) 972-7949 to speak with a constituent advocate. It is my honor to serve the small businesses that power North Texas, where I was born and raised.

Sincerely,
