Hi John, How are you celebrating your loved ones this Valentine’s Day? Whether it’s a heartfelt card, a bouquet of their favorite flowers, a fancy dinner or too many chocolates for dessert, many of us will end the night with full hearts. But all across the U.S., millions of children will go to bed with empty bellies. John, childhood can’t survive where hunger thrives. Under-nourished children can face so many challenges growing up – stunted growth, delayed brain development and poor health to name just a few. For kids living in a hunger crisis, investing in federal nutrition programs is the gift that keeps on giving. Urge Congress to have a heart for hungry children and pass a strong Childhood Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR)! A robust CNR would change countless lives, extending year-round support to more families in need, providing an additional meal or snack to full-day child care programs, reducing burdensome paper-work requirements and permanently introducing flexible service models like home food delivery. It would strengthen and expand child nutrition support like never before, helping us move towards a future where every child in the U.S. grows up well-nourished. Together, we can fill hearts AND tummies this Valentine’s Day. Put your love into action by sending a message to Congress: pass a strong CNR to invest in children’s health – and their futures! |
