Happy Valentine’s Day! The Vote Forward team is so excited to launch the first batch of our 2022 letter writing campaigns later this week. I like to think of Vote Forward letters as “love letters to democracy” because encouraging your fellow Americans to make their voices heard is a deep expression of devotion to the democratic process.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, and my personal love for democracy, I’m sharing one of the “I vote because” messages I write on my Vote Forward letters:

I vividly remember going to the polling place with my mom as a little kid, and being entranced by the ritual—the privacy curtain, the lever. Now as an adult I understand the impact elections have on our lives, but I also still find the whole thing magical!

I hope you’re as excited as I am for all of the letters Vote Forward volunteers like you will send to voters this year. Our small team is putting the finishing touches on this week’s campaign launch, and we’ll keep working hard preparing and launching more campaigns throughout the year.
