Ripon Society Holds Luncheon Discussion with Dan Meyer

WASHINGTON, DC — The Ripon Society held a luncheon discussion last Thursday with Dan Meyer, the Chief of Staff to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. The discussion focused on the agenda in the House and whether bipartisan agreements can be reached in the year ahead.

Meyer’s career began on Capitol Hill, where he served as a staff member for sixteen years, including serving as Chief of Staff for Speaker Newt Gingrich. He would go on to serve in the George W. Bush Administration for two years as an Assistant and Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs.

“Dan works behind the scenes to ensure his boss and his team are ready for anything the day may bring,” stated Jim Conzelman, the President & CEO of The Ripon Society. “With such a deep understanding of the workings of Congress and his years of service here in Washington, we all can agree Leader McCarthy made the right choice when he brought in Dan to join the leadership team.

“This November, the prospect of a Republican majority hangs in the balance. In order to take back the House, Republicans must stand together and offer a unified agenda to solve the biggest issues facing this country. At the heart of this effort is Dan, whom we wish the best of luck.”

According to Conzelman, yesterday’s meeting was attended by a crowd of over 60 people, and was the 7th event The Ripon Society has held so far in 2022. He added that The Ripon Society will hold another discussion later this month with the Staff Director for the Ways and Means Committee, Gary Andres, who will discuss the goals for the committee this year.

The Ripon Society is a public policy organization that was founded in 1962 and takes its name from the town where the Republican Party was born in 1854 – Ripon, Wisconsin.  One of the main goals of The Ripon Society is to promote the ideas and principles that have made America great and contributed to the GOP’s success.  These ideas include keeping our nation secure, keeping taxes low and having a federal government that is smaller, smarter and more accountable to the people.
