The Trump administration is trying to bypass Congress to cut SNAP benefits!

John,

The Trump administration is trying to rip away critical services for working families without congressional approval. They have launched a new effort to make a rule change through USDA’s oversight of SNAP that would cut the food stamp program substantially.

According to the USDA’s own estimates, the proposed rule would cut SNAP benefits by $4.5 billion over five years. But we can still stop this proposed rule change from taking effect!

The Coalition on Human Needs is rallying our allies and already we’ve submitted over 11,000 comments to the USDA telling them to reject this misguided rule.

We need to keep the pressure up. Click here to submit an official comment to the USDA to protect the SNAP food benefits of 7 million Americans!

The benefits of SNAP are far-reaching. This essential program has demonstrated its effectiveness time and time again to reduce poverty, support economic stability, improve student performance in school, reduce food insecurity, protect against obesity and improve mental health.[1]

There is no public policy position that could possibly justify cuts to SNAP. That’s why, together, we’re telling the Trump administration: Absolutely not! We are not going to tolerate cuts to essential programs like SNAP.

Food security is a fundamental building block for health. Don’t let the Trump administration undermine the future of millions of children, seniors, and people with disabilities throughout the United States through new rule changes.

Thank you for your support,

Deborah Weinstein
