So, originally my district was combined with Rep. Beltran's. But he quickly decided that even though the district voted for Trump, he wanted nothing to do with running against me!

I do want to thank everyone who came out on Friday for beers and politics at Leaven Brewing! It was good to have a weekend here at home, I climbed a tower crane with the Operating Engineers Union [[link removed]] , attended the retirement ceremony for my former XO at Special Operations Command Central, and got to hang with family and friends! Certainly beats Tallahassee!!!

It was a HUGE honor to meet SGT Rick Cicero and recognize him from the House Floor this week. SGT Cicero lost his right leg and arm in Afghanistan in 2010 and the students at the International Institute for Orthotics and Prosthetics help keep him moving. You can watch my presentation here. Now for the bad news: The House Budget is cutting $200 million dollars [[link removed]] from Hillsborough County Public Schools, and 11 other districts, that followed CDC guidance during the Delta Wave. The GOOD news, is the Senate wants nothing to do with it, meaning we need to get loud and ensure we fight like hell for our local schools! This week, the abortion ban will come to the House Floor on Tuesday. Here's a clip [[link removed]] of Rep. Eskamani on MSNBC this week with a call-to-action for everyone who wants to keep the government out of personal healthcare choices.
TRAFFIC UPDATE : We got Bloomingdale reopened at US-301. This phase of the project should last until next Saturday when traffic N/S on 301 will be diverted to the East lanes that they just repaved and work will begin on Progress Blvd. That phase will include a complete closure of Progress Blvd at Bloomingdale for two-weeks, but it will also mark the halfway point of the project!
Finally, tomorrow marks four years since the shooting at Marjorie Soneman Douglass High School in Parkland, FL. Seventeen lost their lives and we all vowed that day to do everything possible to ensure #NeverAgain.
