Team, After years of inaction on climate by the Trump administration, we rejoiced when President Biden was sworn in. We knew that once again we would have a true advocate in the White House. The President got straight to work, immediately rejoining the Paris climate agreement, and restoring American global leadership in the fight against climate change. To further curb the use of fossil fuels globally, the administration also restricted U.S. support for fossil fuels overseas and ruled out most coal projects that do not fully capture or abate their emissions. Domestically, President Biden signed an infrastructure law that reimagined our roads and bridges, and also envisioned a future based on electric vehicles. The law will help build a network of 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the country, as well as invest in climate friendly passenger rails. And toward the end of 2021, the president ordered the federal government to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
