John,
I’m proud to say that my legislation to ban members of Congress and their spouses from buying, selling, or trading individual stocks has widespread support. Nearly 50 members of Congress - Democrats and Republicans - have signed on to the TRUST in Congress Act – triple the amount we had just a month ago.
Our bill is about affirming public trust and removing even the perception of possible impropriety. What better way to affirm to the American people that we are focused on them and not our stock portfolios than by not having individual stock portfolios or by using a blind trust?
We saw in the early days of the pandemic far too many press stories about Congressman X or Senator Y buying or selling stocks in companies that were gaining or losing in light of the pandemic. And far too many Americans were left shaking their heads. I believe any opportunity to show our constituents that we are working for their interests and not our stock portfolios is one we should take.
I’m proud to lead the charge on such a commonsense reform and I’m encouraged by the support voters and members of Congress alike have shown for the initiative.
If you believe in the goal we’re working towards, I hope you’ll consider a contribution to our campaign today. Your support ensures I can take the lead on the next mission that comes our way.

With appreciation,
Abigail
