of hitting every fundraising goal from here until Election Day cannot be
understated.

Why? Because the election for our seat in Congress is more competitive
than ever. Jamaal is facing two wealthy establishment opponents thus far —
and two more candidates have openly considered the idea of running. We
need to make sure that our campaign has the resources to respond.

In fact — just last week — we learned that our first challenger maxed out
his own campaign, along with giving himself a loan of $37,500. Meanwhile,
Jamaal is an educator who grew up in public housing. He can't afford to
write himself five figure checks or call up wealthy friends when his
campaign needs an extra boost.

What’s more, with new congressional district lines drawn, we also need
additional resources to reach out to new constituents and voters in our
district. That requires grassroots power to make happen — because the
grassroots put Jamaal in Congress, and grassroots donors like you will
keep him there.
