Hello, John — It’s Akbar here, Josh Shapiro’s Policy Director. My job on this campaign is to meet with community leaders, small business owners, policy experts, and Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth to learn more about the problems we’re all facing — and work with Josh to figure out how to fix them.

After watching what happened in the 2020 election — and the GOP’s sham “audit” immediately after — Josh and I knew we had to come out swinging with a blueprint to protect our right to vote. Pennsylvanians are worried about a lot right now, from COVID to the economy to their kid’s education. They should not have to worry about the instability of our democracy, too.

Voting is a fundamental right for every American. I want to learn more about how our grassroots community thinks about this issue, so will you take this survey today, John?

In case you missed it, the plan I helped create with Josh and many others to protect our voting rights and defend our democracy calls for:

• Vetoing any effort to restrict mail-in voting
• Appointing a pro-democracy Secretary of State
• Establishing early in-person voting
• Establishing automatic voter registration
• Implementing same day voter registration through Election Day

We’re seeing Republican attacks on our democracy like never before, which is why we wanted to start this campaign with an effective, detailed plan to combat their attacks and protect our rights. But it means nothing if we don’t hear your feedback directly, which is why I’m coming to you now.
