John, have you
seen this?
[ [link removed] ]The filibuster doesn't actually increase debate
It’s more clear now than ever before that the Senate is broken.
If elected to the Senate, I’ll fight to end the filibuster immediately,
and I will be the 51st vote for Build Back Better, universal healthcare,
confirming judges, canceling student debt, and other bold solutions that
we need right now. [ [link removed] ]Can you chip in to our campaign to help me get
there?
Last month, the Senate failed to pass critical voting rights legislation.
52 Senators joined together to protect the archaic and racist filibuster
rule, which requires a supermajority to end debate – effectively killing
the bill.
Supporters of the filibuster say that it fosters debate in the “world’s
greatest deliberative body,” but a new study shows that’s not even true.
MSNBC reports, “Historical data shows that the filibuster largely has no
effect on debate — and to the extent that it does, it appears to dampen it
rather than invigorate it.”
A quick reminder: There are no Black women in the Senate. And the 48
senators who stood together to try to protect voting rights represent 34
million more people than the 52 who stood opposed. The Senate simply isn’t
doing what it’s supposed to do — represent the people.
[ [link removed] ]We can change that by electing an unbought, principled progressive to
represent Ohio instead of yet another self-serving, moderate politician.
If you’re with me, rush a contribution of any amount right now to help
fuel our campaign.

We know how high these stakes are, and we can’t risk another Senator
Manchin or Senator Sinema when our civil rights are on the line. You can
be certain that I’ll be a YES on getting rid of the Jim Crow filibuster
rule to protect our right to vote.
That’s why I’m running — and thank you for being on our team.
Together,
Morgan
