Two hundred and thirteen years ago, Abraham Lincoln was born. He would go on to change the course of our nation for the better.
He was President at a time when our country was more divided than ever, and with bravery and vision, he helped to end slavery and reunite the North and South.
On the anniversary of his birthday, I'm taking time to reflect on Lincoln's political courage.
With the United States once more feeling deeply divided, it's up to us to have the political courage to incite change. But instead of bloodshed and war, we need to have respect for each other, honest discourse, and patience.
We need more politicians with the bravery to do what's right, rather than what's profitable or attention-grabbing. True patriots, who care more about the United States than demagogues.
Thank you!
