But just because DACA was always intended to be a temporary solution doesn’t negate the impacts the program has on improving the lives and livelihoods of immigrant youth.
DACA has also provided work authorization to more than 830,000 undocumented young people across the country. Recipients reported earning higher wages and pursuing educational opportunities they couldn’t have before.
Our demands for a pathway to citizenship are stronger than ever, with an overwhelming 91.6% of respondents concerned over deportation and the impacts of their legal status. But in the meantime, United We Dream is committed to doing everything in our power to make the DACA application process easier for immigrant youth.
