Dear John,

Protect our waters from power plant pollution!

Since day 1 Trump has attacked bedrock protections for our oceans and waterways. Every move the administration makes is on behalf of Big Polluters, not for people like you and me.

Now, Trump’s EPA just proposed another giveaway to the power industry. EPA Administrator Wheeler wants to roll back rules that stop power plants from polluting our lakes, rivers and streams with toxic waste.

The good news: There is still time to stop this disastrous proposal and keep toxic chemicals out of our waterways! Can we count on your support?

Help protect water quality: Stop the EPA from gutting water pollution regulations for lakes, rivers and streams!

In 2015, the EPA updated its standards to limit how much toxic mercury, arsenic, and other toxic waste can be dumped by power plants into nearby bodies of water. But Administrator Wheeler is now weakening this rule.

Even with the 2015 regulations, these facilities are able to treat our water bodies like an open sewer. Every year, they dump 2.2 billion pounds of contaminated wastewater directly into our rivers, lakes and bays -- that’s over 250,000 pounds of pollution an hour.

No other industry comes even close to polluting our nation’s waters like the power plant industry. It is by far the largest toxic water polluter in the country, responsible for 30% of all toxic pollutants discharged into surface waters by all industrial water polluters regulated under the Clean Water Act.

If Trump has his way and the power plant rules are rolled back, the pollution will get even worse. We need you with us to pressure the EPA to reject this reckless rollback.

Help send 35,000 comments to the EPA: Tell the agency to fight Trump’s attacks on our water protections!

Trump’s rollbacks are a blatant handout to the power industry to the detriment of everyday people like you and me.

But we’ve stopped the Trump Administration’s reckless rollbacks before, and with your help we can stop them again. If engaged environmentalists like you and me speak up, the EPA will have to listen.

Together, we can protect our beautiful lakes, streams, and rivers from more power plant pollution. But we need you with us, John.

Take action NOW: Protect our waters from power plant pollution!

Standing with you,
Hallie Templeton,
