Team,
For too long, Maryland has waited to finish the work of the Civil Rights Movement, punching below our weight in matters of equal access to opportunity, economic empowerment, and racial justice for Black people.
As Governor, I will not rest until good jobs and equitable justice are the everyday experience of Black people in Maryland, not the exception.

Team, at the Department of Justice, I fought for voting rights, took on hate groups, and prosecuted cases of police brutality. As Secretary of Labor, I fought for opportunities to provide high-quality jobs that pave the way for wealth generation and homeownership for Black Americans.
I've had the privilege of being invited into homes, churches, and places of business in our incredible communities across the state to hear how these issues and more are impacting the lives of our Black residents. One thing is abundantly clear: We can’t wait any longer on critical issues of equity and advancement.
As Governor, I will work hand in hand with the community to craft a detailed agenda built on a foundation of equity and racial justice that:
• Ensures all students across Maryland have access to pre-K and K-12 educational opportunities, regardless of zip code
•Addresses the impacts of the failed war on drugs by reinvesting cannabis tax revenue back into communities that have been systematically and disproportionately criminalized for marijuana
•Increases opportunities for Black business start-ups and small businesses and advance procurement reform to address income and wealth inequality
•Promotes and protects jobs and justice for Black Marylanders
But I won’t stop there. Please click here to read my plan to celebrate and uplift Black communities across Maryland under a Perez-Sneed Administration.
Thank you,
Tom
P.S. We can shape our future into one that empowers and protects Black Marylanders and ensures that we all succeed – but I can only do it with your help. Can I count on you to chip in $3 to bring jobs and justice to all of Maryland?
