My friend Lucy McBath is a mother, fighter, and Congresswoman. Like me, her family knows the pain of gun violence firsthand — and our shared fight to pass gun safety laws in Washington is a deeply personal one.

After losing her son Jordan to gun violence, Lucy became an outspoken advocate for gun safety and has turned her family’s pain into a singular purpose — sparing other families from experiencing that same loss. Lucy initially decided to run for Congress after the inadequate response by Congress to the Parkland Shooting, and since winning her election, Lucy has led the way to the passage of historic gun safety legislation in the House of Representatives.
