John -
Calling the violence on January 6 “legitimate political discourse” is nothing short of Orwellian.
That statement, made publicly by the Republican National Committee, represents the incredible grip Christian Nationalists have over the Republican Party establishment.
Regardless of your party affiliation, this is very bad news for our nation and for our democracy.
If you read this news, and it chills you to the bone as it did for me, then support our work.
Donate any amount - and help the Center for Freethought Equality do more to counteract Christian Nationalist forces that are actively working to undo our democracy. >> [link removed]
We’re a small team here, but that means every gift makes a bigger impact. Your generosity will help us identify, recruit and support atheist and humanist candidates for office. These are the people we want in charge - they’ll passionately defend the separation of church and state, our constitution, and our democratic process.
Thanks in advance for your support, I really appreciate it.

Dear John,
Last Friday, the Republican Party declared the January 6th insurrection “legitimate political discourse.”
Think about that for a minute.
Thousands of armed rioters stormed the Capitol building. Hundreds were injured and five ultimately died in connection to the events that day. It was the most serious attempt to overthrow the American constitutional system since the Civil War.
That’s why in the days following, no one defended it. But just one year later, the Republican Party has just censured two of their own, and labeled that inconceivable violence as just “legitimate political discourse.”

That shift happened because of Christian Nationalists. They’re targeting politicians, pressuring them to fall in line, to support their prophet Donald Trump and defend his lies - no matter how provably false they may be.
If this movement goes unchecked, they will use whatever means necessary to forcefully reshape our government, to install anti-democratic theocrats, so they can dictate our rights and freedoms.
Our democracy is on the line and we need you to get involved: Contribute any amount - $15, $25, $50 - and help the Center for Freethought Equality counter this radical, extremist agenda. >>[link removed]

Sociologists like Andrew Whitehead, an expert in tracking Christian Nationalists’ efforts, believe about 20% or 30 million Americans strongly embrace Christian Nationalism. That’s not an insignificant number.
But we have a majority of Americans on our side. 54% of Americans support a strong separation of church and state. 69% believe the U.S. should never declare an official religion. And the number of Americans who consider themselves atheist, agnostic, or of no particular faith is growing, from 19% in 2011 to 29% today.
Your gift will immediately go to turn these majorities into real political power. Help expand our work to recruit, support, and elect humanists and atheists who believe science, reason, and compassion should be used to shape public policy.
Thank you for your support.
