Sending Love for Valentine's Day One of the toughest things about being deployed is missing out on holiday celebrations. The feeling of celebrating with family, friends, and loved ones is something that is hard to replicate from afar. That's where our Angel volunteers come in. Angels on our Deployed Support Teams are not only sending care packages, letters, cards, and baked goods to deployed... they are sending a piece of home. And during special holidays, many of our Angels even turn those care packages into a celebration in a box.

Over the past several weeks, Angels have been busy creating boxes filled with Valentine's Day love... which is why love is in the air... literally! If all goes according to plan, those boxes should be landing at their destinations in the next few days, just in time to help their recipients celebrate the special day.

334 heroes are currently waiting to be adopted.

As deployments continue to ramp up, we are in need of more Angel volunteers to support them.

"This week, it did my heart and mind some good to turn my oven back on and make cookies again. So honored to be able to send care packages to America’s heroes!"

- Angel Shelley

"I have been a part of Soldiers' Angels for three years. I have gained so much from my experience. However, right now I am appreciating it more than ever. My son is on his first deployment and the other new moms have so many shipping questions for care packages. Thanks to Soldiers' Angels, I have the answers, plus I shipped my son a package like it was nothing because I have learned so much over the years."

- Angela Tamara

Sharing "Pre-Game" Love with Veterans February 13 - February 19 is National Salute to Veteran Patients— a week to pay tribute to hospitalized veterans. But yesterday, at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center [[link removed][0]=AZUG0hqUc4RFDs9STCdnNl0ws7PWll3bo1BAJabwZtxDtDMCWAPvTZBIHJK-9pvsGVJhzSvm8h-pKFzC2DDnAJDNMjmZqUxuqJS6SsSchVpyyazdXnNOPYt8UGHTSvBgSB4taLkkoH9ir48QnHy56IsvGATQ464YDO8C0n_CaOHIOrCYxxvQeQabII8pVjtigrs&__tn__=kK-R], veteran patients got to experience a little "pre-game" fun ahead of National Salute week! The Cincinnati Bengals Mascot, Who Dey, visited with veterans in the hospital along with a life-sized cut-out of the Bengals Quarterback, Joe Burrow! Soldiers' Angels volunteers were on-hand at the big event to provide snack bags and football-shaped cookies. Veterans at the Cincinnati VA had such a fantastic time! A huge thanks to the Bengals and Who Dey for taking time out for our veterans ahead of National Salute Week. We know they are just a little bit BUSY this weekend, which really made the event that much more exciting for the veterans! Vote NOW in the Coloring Contest! We have already received overwhelming support for this year's Warm Feet for Warriors sock drive! In the first 7 days of the campaign, we received over 7,000 pairs of socks towards our 50,000 goal! But... if we want to achieve our lofty goal, we'll need that support to continue all the way through March!

One great way to participate is to set up your own collection campaign in your community. If you have a location that will allow you to set up a collection box— an office, gym, church, school, civic group, etc.— consider organizing a sock drive! Our recent blog will walk you through step-by-step how to create your own Warm Feet for Warriors Collection!

What do you do when your partner returns from deployment wounded? You drop everything to care for them. For many military caregivers, you get so wrapped up in caring for your family that you lose yourself a little. Sometimes a lot. One military caregiver supported by the Women of Valor team shares how her Angel helped to change her perspective and reminded her about the importance of self-care.
