Dear John,
There is nothing like a friend who truly gets you. For me, and probably many of you, animals have always been some of my closest friends.
In June of 2021, I was among thousands of others who were glued to their televisions as breaking news revealed 40 cows had escaped a Los Angeles slaughterhouse. It was heart-wrenching to see the fear in these cows’ eyes as vehicles swarmed them from every direction, knowing all they wanted was to get as far away as they could from looming death.
Luckily, I surround myself with like-minded people who jumped into action. Together, we convinced the slaughterhouse owner that the lone survivor of the 40 escapees deserved a chance. June B. Free arrived at Farm Sanctuary and stepped into her new life of freedom.
In a shocking turn of events, a week later, another cow from the escaped herd was discovered in a park! Soon, Susan joined June at Farm Sanctuary. In each other, June B. Free and Susan discovered kindred spirits. They took their meals from the same trough and explored their new home, side by side. It’s taking time to heal their wounds, but slowly, they’re getting better together.
Not all actions that save animals capture headlines. Most are modest and are done by people like you—it’s your support that allows organizations like Farm Sanctuary to be there for animals in need.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show that love and friendship matter to all animals. This year, will you symbolically “adopt” June B. Free and Susan with a $35 donation to Farm Sanctuary?
With your donation, you’ll help provide their day-to-day care at the Sanctuary, and support Farm Sanctuary’s lifesaving work toward ending the exploitation of farm animals everywhere.
In thanks, you’ll receive a digital “Better Together” adoption certificate, which makes a perfect Valentine—for yourself or someone you love!
Will you adopt June B. Free and Susan this Valentine's Day?
