Members of Congress are elected to serve, not to be served.
Montanans and folks across the country have lost faith in Congress. I'm working to fix that and restore trust in this institution.
This week, I introduced a bipartisan bill with Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren to ban Members of Congress and their spouses from trading or owning individual stocks and commodities. In fact, my bill is the first bipartisan effort on this issue in the Senate!
Members shouldn’t be able to make legislative decisions or use their platform and influence to benefit themselves personally, which is why it should be no question that owning and trading stocks should be banned.
I'm glad to team up with my colleagues across the aisle to hold Members of Congress accountable and prevent conflicts of interest. Let’s get this done!
