Here are two major takeaways from this week – the very real monetary inflation and the distraction of the security state’s Ukraine-Russia threat inflation:
1) The Democrats’ spending legislation and money printing regime in Washington has exposed itself again. This week we found what the media cannot cover-up: the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen 7.5% year-over-year, evidence of what happens when lawmakers spend exuberant amounts of taxpayer dollars with few budget offsets. Deficit spending, money printing, incentivizing workers to stay home and collect welfare checks, and vaccine mandates to punish those who want to work. This is the formula to ruin the American economy and the Democrats are still searching for answers. Rest assured, when my colleagues and I take back the House, none of this will be permitted.
2) While millions around the world are watching the Olympics in Beijing or are consumed with a hypothetical invasion across the Atlantic Ocean, few are watching what’s really happening in Communist China’s capital. This week, it appears that Chinese leader Xi Jinping used the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics to further China’s engagement with foreign leaders. By investing $23.7 billion, Beijing has added Argentina to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, or “One Belt, One Road” to further increase its grip on South America. While the media has been focused on threat construction surrounding the possibility of a Ukraine invasion, they ignore what has already happened to our neighbors in the Western Hemisphere. One Belt, One Road will strengthen China’s political influence and trade relations, while continuing to advance China’s interests in Latin America. Watch my House floor speech below for more on this!

CAPITOL POLICE CAUGHT SPYING ON REPUBLICANS
This week, Congressman Troy Nehls (TX-22) exposed Capitol Police officers who entered his office in November 2021, photographed private documents, and returned to interrogate his staff out-of-uniform. That’s right, as Rep. Nehls explained on Twitter, “Upon discovering a member of my staff, special agents dressed like construction workers began to question him as to the contents of a photograph taken illegally two days earlier.” The Capitol Police took illegal pictures of legislation that Rep. Nehls office was working on. How pathetic.
On Wednesday, 26 House Republicans joined me in demanding United States Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger to preserve all Capitol Police records related to any investigative activity into members of Congress and congressional staff. It is crucial to preserve evidence and remember what those instructed to protect Congressmen are doing with their time.

CONGRESS PASSES BILL TO END FORCED ARBITRATION IN SEXUAL ASSUALT CASES

For the fourth consecutive year, I stand strongly in support of H.R. 4445, the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Harassment Act. Over the years, the fine print in contractual employment documents has deprived Americans of their day in court, when litigating allegations of sexual harassment and assault. Forced arbitration by companies allows them to control the unofficial proceedings and, in effect, disadvantage employees with legitimate claims that need to be resolved. I am proud that on a bipartisan basis, both the House and the Senate have passed this legislation, as it awaits a signature from the president. Watch my House floor speech above for more!
REP. GAETZ INTRODUCES LOBBYIST ACCOUNTABILITY ACT
As it relates to H.R. 4445 mentioned above, I introduced H.R. 6627, the Lobbyist Accountability Act this week. As we expect to see businesses move from arbitration to legitimate court proceedings to adjudicate sexual harassment and assault claims, lobbyists will not be exempt! This bill would amend the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 to ensure that lobbyists are administratively liable for harassing congressional staff.
