John --
BREAKING: just-released government data shows an unprecedented 69,550 migrant kids were held in U.S. government custody over the past year. [1]
That's enough infants, toddlers, kids, and teens to overflow the typical NFL stadium -- and it's ABSOLUTELY SICKENING.
Our Representatives MUST do more to stop enabling the Trump administration's devastatingly traumatic imprisonment of innocent children.
Tell your Member of Congress to do everything in their power to stop migrant kids and families from being detained and separated.
The Trump administration's disgusting policy of locking up children in detention centers is causing immeasurable levels of trauma -- a fact that the government itself even acknowledges.
A Honduran teen, separated from his mom and held in detention for 4 months, told reporters that he saw other kids even hurting themselves out of fear and a desire to be free: "They would cry sometimes, alone, or they would hit themselves against the wall."
And one father, finally able to contact his 3-year-old daughter after three panicked weeks of having no idea where she was, shared her heartbreaking interpretation: "She said that I had left her alone and she was crying."
She said: "I don't love you Daddy, you left me alone."
While in detention, he later learned she was molested and wasn't able to eat or drink from the trauma.
As a country, we simply cannot allow the Trump administration to continue conducting this kind of widespread ABUSE.
Tell your Member of Congress to do everything in their power to stop migrant kids and families from being detained and separated.
Thanks for all you do,
