John,
It’s no secret Congressional Democrats are on the defense heading into the midterm elections. And one of those Democrats is SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Paul Tonko, representing New York’s 20th Congressional District.
Republicans are furiously raising money in order to gain ground in the critical midterm elections. But while redistricting may be changing the district landscape for Rep. Tonko, he’s continuing to tackle climate change and support renewable energy projects.
Recently, Rep. Tonko joined New York Governor Kathy Hochul and U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm at the Port of Albany to celebrate finalizing contracts for two offshore wind projects in New York.
The wind farms off the coast of Long Island will bring New York closer to achieving its goal of 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy by 2035 and a zero-emissions electricity sector by 2040.
