[link removed] [[link removed]]For months, I’ve heard from Delawareans experiencing issues with the Postal Service -- from significant mail delays to mail that’s gone missing altogether.
John, I’ve been working to get to the bottom of these mail issues and hold USPS leadership accountable for the decline in services.
I’m proud to tell you that I’m co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation that would relieve the Postal Service of significant financial burdens that are negatively impacting mail services.

The Postal Service is grappling with massive financial liabilities that could cause the agency to run out of money in a matter of months.
This legislation would help alleviate the USPS’ financial crisis and hold it accountable for delivery issues by:
*
Removing
the
unnecessary
and
onerous
requirement
that
the
USPS
prepay
future
retirement
benefits,
which
accounts
for
over
$131
billion
of
the
agency’s
debt
*
Establishing
a
public
online
dashboard
that
reports
mail
delivery
performance
metrics
by
zip
code
*
Prohibiting
the
USPS
from
raising
certain
mail
rates
in
order
to
make
up
for
other
lost
revenue
*
Requiring
trackable
bar
codes
on
all
mail-in
ballots
John, these measures would save the Postal Service $30 billion over the next 10 years.
Everyone relies on a functioning Postal Service -- from seniors and veterans to small businesses and rural communities. It’s time to alleviate the USPS’ financial burdens and ensure this critical institution can continue serving Americans everywhere.
