John,
here’s been A LOT going on over the past several weeks. I didn’t want you to miss some of the recent developments taking place in our targeted Congressional races.
First, the good news: DFLers have officially launched campaigns in both CD-1 and CD-8 to unseat GOP Congressmen Hagedorn and Stauber, respectively. Both were previously blue seats and the races in these districts have been among the closest in the country in recent years. They’re well within our reach next year if we mount an aggressive offense.
Second, the bad news: GOP State Senator Michelle Fischbach is officially running to flip Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District from blue to red. CD-7 has been trending red for years, and Trump won the district by more than 30 points in 2016 (when he lost the whole state by 1.5 points).
DFLers must do our part to hold onto our Democratic majority in the U.S House in 2020. That’s why to shore up awareness around these races, we’re doing one last end of the year organizing and media blitz to make sure Minnesotans understand what’s at stake.
We found some room in the existing budget, but we’re still going to need to raise another $3,000 by the end of the week to fully fund it. Will you pitch in $5 (or more if you can) by Friday to help us win these critical races and keep Minnesota blue?
On top of these most recent updates, DFL Reps Angie Craig (CD-2) and Dean Phillips (CD-3) continue to make the list of top targets for national Republicans. As the Trump campaign continues to obsess over flipping Minnesota red next year, our competitive Congressional races (5 out of 8 districts in the state!!) are shaping up to be the key battlegrounds.
If the Republicans run up the score in any of them, our entire statewide program will be in serious jeopardy. We can’t let that happen. Please contribute what you can be Friday to help us make sure it doesn’t.
Thank you,
Brian Evans
