Friend – a top aide to Virginia Republican AG Jason Miyares resigned after it was discovered that she posted on Facebook in support of the Jan. 6 rioters and echoed false claims that Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
Losing a Democratic AG election is about more than just the seat. When extreme conservatives win elections and take over AG seats, they install people around them who share their extreme conservative views – and in this case, were actively working to undermine democracy and our rule of law by amplifying misinformation.

Miles, a former Deputy Attorney General for Virginia, supported and amplified conspiracy theories about the 2020 election for months using her personal social media accounts. The fact that a person like this was a close aide to AG Miyares – and Deputy AG to boot – says so much about his character.
