I won my last race by exactly 13,622 votes.

Make no mistake: if I had lost to my Republican opponent, North Carolina’s Attorney General’s office would have been used to carry out the GOP’s extreme agenda and roll back the progress we made in my first term.

13,622 votes were the difference between my advocating for fair, non-gerrymandered maps and the GOP trying to divide North Carolinians along political lines to lock in their political power no matter the will of the majority. ​​

Our victory in 2020 reaffirmed our vision for a better and brighter North Carolina. Thanks to your support, we’ve defended voting rights, pushed for meaningful access to affordable health care, protected consumers from harmful policies and scams, safeguarded key environmental protections, and so much more. 

But our work together has made me a target of the right-wing forces threatening our shared values every day.
