Friend, I’m excited to tell you about a new program we just launched to develop climate leaders of the future.

The California Environmental Voters Ambassadors Program identifies, cultivates, and supports young leaders from marginalized communities in the Central Valley. We help them foster organizing and leadership skills, activate young people on environmental and climate action, and increase community engagement through long-term organizing within their region.

The goal is for this cohort of young climate champions to build power to effect change on key issues like clean air, clean water, and climate resiliency, with a focus on racial justice, equity, and a green and just economic recovery.

Meet the 3 EnviroVoters Ambassadors:

Emmanuel Agraz-Torres, Tulare County

What do you hope to gain from the Ambassador program?
The skills and guidance necessary to enact change in our communities. I view the outcome of this program to be my first step in serving my community.

Savannah James, Bakersfield

What do you hope to gain from the Ambassador program?
A deeper understanding of my community and how environmental issues affect communities of color.

Rubena Kahlon, Fresno/Madera

What do you hope to gain from the Ambassador program?
I hope to gain the knowledge and experience to become a more effective leader in my community and learn how to reaffirm the power of the public.

I can’t wait to update you on all the incredible work Emmanuel, Savannah, and Rubena are doing!
