As we learn to live with COVID-19, fight to ensure all women have access to a full range of reproductive healthcare, and work to bring down the cost of prescription medications, it is more important than ever to have doctors in the House charting the path.
As you might know, I am the first pediatrician ever elected to Congress. I am very excited to share the news that two more Democratic women pediatricians are running for Congress, and with your help, they can win critical swing seats in November.
I'm proud to endorse Dr. Yadira Caraveo running in Colorado's 8th District and Dr. Annie Andrews running in South Carolina's 1st District.
- Dr. Yadira Caraveo is a pediatrician in Colorado who saw the struggles her patients' families faced and knew something had to be done. She decided to run for the state legislature and since taking office, she's focused on lowering the cost of prescription drugs, limiting toxic pollution that is endangering our childrens' health and planet, and ensuring all Coloradoans have access to paid family and sick leave. She's running for Congress in Colorado's new 8th Congressional District, which the Cook Political Report has named a "toss-up."
- Dr. Annie Andrews is a pediatrician, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, and community advocate in South Carolina. She is a gun violence prevention researcher and active volunteer with Moms Demand Action, working to reduce pediatric firearm injuries and educate her community about gun safety. She's running for Congress in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, which flipped red in 2020 in one of the closest races in the country.

In Congress, I know Dr. Caraveo and Dr. Andrews will join me in the work to make health care more affordable, lower the cost of prescription drugs, keep our communities safe from COVID-19 and our children safe from gun violence, and protect a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions. And with Republicans only five seats away from retaking the House, winning these swing seats in Colorado and South Carolina is critical to protecting our majority and the progress we've made.
But Dr. Caraveo and Dr. Andrews have tough fights ahead of them, and they need our support to ensure they have the resources to take on their Republican opponents and turn SC-01 and CO-08 blue this November.
