*Correction: In our latest email about the 15-week ban in Florida, we mistakenly referred to an event on January 12, 2022 — the event is on February 22, 2022, and if you're in Florida, we encourage you to take part!
John,
While some GOP legislatures have backed away from their promise to introduce 6-week Texas copycat bans, like in South Dakota and Idaho, others, like in Florida and Mississippi, have opted to introduce 15-week bans.
Meanwhile, legislators in Arkansas are working to ban nearly
all abortions.
Despite lawmakers framing the 15-week bans as a "more reasonable and generous" option, we know the truth:
any ban is unacceptable.
John, add your name to demand GOP lawmakers STOP trying to legislate away our access to reproductive care and abortion.
These 15-week bans (let alone 6-week bans!) represent a dramatic rollback of the protections of Roe, which established the constitutional right to an abortion until 22 - 24 weeks.
Not to mention the fact that at least seven states, including Ohio, Alabama, and Missouri, have stated interest in following Texas' lead to ban abortion after 6 weeks.
More specifically: Oklahoma is fighting to allow any individual to sue doctors who perform an abortion, and their Republican governor said he would sign any anti-abortion bill; Arizona wants to ban abortion as early as 6 weeks and they want doctors to face $10,000 fines for each abortion that violates the ban.
John, the Supreme Court is set to rule in June on a case that will likely overturn Roe, and more than 20 states already have laws to ban or dramatically restrict abortion when that happens. We cannot wait until June to take action.
We must act. Add your name to help us amplify the message that ALL bans must go.
We need you with us in this fight,
#VOTEPROCHOICE
