We knew this was coming.
We knew that once New Jersey’s corrupt political machine caught on to the power of our movement, they would start the bad-faith attacks on Imani.
And now, we’re seeing an onslaught of gross, sexist, classist, and racist attacks pouring in from the machine’s mouthpieces — calling Imani mouthy, unqualified, mountebank, and a vagabond.
Meanwhile, Rep. Payne Jr. can’t even be bothered to put pants on while he “represents” our community in Congress. [[link removed]]
This is a typical (and infuriating) example of the double standard Black progressive women face in politics. They’re already hurling sexist attacks at Imani — can you imagine what they’d say if Imani showed up to work in her bonnet?
These sexist attacks on Imani are unacceptable, and they’re going to keep coming as long as they perceive our movement as a threat. Can you chip in $27, or whatever you can, right now to help us fight back? [[link removed]]
We know the truth, John. We know that Imani is a strong, capable, experienced, and committed advocate for our communities.
Without holding public office, she’s been a far better advocate and champion for NJ-10 than Rep. Payne Jr. ever has. Because she shows up for us.
And as our next Congresswoman, not only will she get dressed for work every day, she’ll show up every day ready to fight for our communities — to fight for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, housing justice, and so much more.
That’s more than Rep. Payne Jr. has ever done for our district. And it’s the least we deserve after years of a do-nothing representative who can’t be bothered to take his job seriously.
