The new agreement, the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, will replace the failed 2020 Aichi Biodiversity Targets. To prevent another failure, the root causes of biodiversity loss must be addressed. The post-2020 Framework will be further negotiated in Geneva from 13-29 March, and then adopted at the COP15 UN biodiversity summit in China later this year. In the run-up to the March meetings, please call on your country’s environment minister to ensure that positive, choice-based population
solutions are included in the new global agreement. Together, we can ensure that the fundamental contribution of human population growth to biodiversity loss is no longer ignored - for the benefit of people and planet. |
