John,

Governor Mills just finished up her State of the State speech and we couldn’t be prouder of the work she has done for Mainers during such a crucial time.

Under Governor Mills' common-sense leadership, Maine has had one of the strongest COVID-19 responses in the country. That’s meant some of the lowest death rates and highest vaccination rates nationally. Our communities, schools, and families are safer because of it.

Governor Mills has guided our state to an $800 million budget surplus, helped put more Mainers in good-paying jobs, and expanded our high-speed internet access. Our economy has seen a drastic increase in annual wages and higher household incomes amidst a historic economic recovery.

When we win in November, we will be poised to continue building on our success and fighting tooth and nail to protect Mainers’ health, rights, and wallets.

To win, we need you on this team, John. Will you invest in a brighter future here in Maine with a contribution of $5, $10, $20.22, $50 or whatever you can? [link removed]

But Governor Mills reminded me of what’s changed.

Under Paul LePage’s leadership, Maine’s economy was consistently rated as the worst in New England, our recovery from the 2008 recession lagged well behind the rest of the country, and nearly all of our state’s vital industries saw closures and job losses.

During his tenure, LePage consistently acted against the interests of Mainers by blocking Medicaid expansion and stood in the way of making health care more accessible and affordable. Now in the midst of a global pandemic, LePage is offering more of the same as a response to COVID-19: slashing health care funding, ignoring common-sense COVID-19 precautions, and endangering the health and wellbeing of Mainers everywhere.

It’s this simple: from the economy to our COVID-19 response to protecting our civil rights, too much is at stake to put Paul LePage back in charge. We’re on the right track and we can keep this going, but we know from experience that it’s not going to be easy.

So here’s where I ask:

Will you chip in $5, $10, $15, $20.22, $50, or whatever you can? It’s going to make a big difference in our work to continue organizing across Maine, win in 2022, and build on the progress we’ve already made. [link removed]

Let’s do this.

Thank you,

Drew
