When the NCAA threatened states that don't allow boys to play girls' sports, I took a stand against forcing girls to compete against boys. We will NOT allow our women to be pushed out of athletic scholarships and out of sporting excellence.




When we see males competing in girls' sports, we see the loss of opportunities. Girls lose chances to compete for and receive athletic scholarships, professional sports careers, and the chance to compete on a level playing field. More than that, it turns sports into a series of demoralizing defeats.




I want Texas parents to know that this will not be the norm in the Lone Star State. Parents should not have to worry about their daughters having to compete against males, who have many physiological advantages over females.

We put a stop to this unfair, liberal lunacy by passing a bill in the Texas Senate that banned boys from playing girls' sports. This bill ensures that men and boys will not be allowed to compete against women and girls in individual and team sports or for sports scholarships. It protects girls' athletics by codifying the rights to safety and equal opportunity already guaranteed under Title IX of the Federal Education Amendments of 1972, which protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities.




For the sake of our daughters and granddaughters, we passed this bill FOUR times in the Texas Senate, before it became law.




Protecting girls' sports is just one of the many important issues that moms and dads are asking us to address that we are fighting for. We will not allow the Democrats to force our daughters and granddaughters to compete against boys in sports.




In Texas, we refuse to deny any woman or girl athlete the right to compete on a level playing field and be the best in her sport. We cannot and will not allow the Democrats to force girls to compete against boys in sports.
