Today, Cori led 13 Black women lawmakers in sending a letter to President
Biden commending him for committing to his promise to nominate a Black
woman to the Supreme Court — while making it clear that the nominee must
have a record of pushing for racial justice and a commitment to ending
entrenched white supremacy.

This is about more than symbolism. It's about saving lives.

Cori will continue to call for a lifelong defender of civil, labor, and
human rights to be nominated to the Supreme Court, but we need a huge show
of momentum to show President Biden that we won't accept anything less
than the first Black woman nominated to the Supreme Court.

Cori and her colleagues understand that without a single Black woman in
the U.S. Senate to vote for President Biden's nominee, it is up to all of
us to advocate and ensure that President Biden's nominee will not only
make history but also restore credibility to the Supreme Court.

While Fox News and the GOP attempt everything in their power to sabotage
President Biden's nomination process — Ted Cruz recently called President
Biden's promise to nominate the first Black woman 'offensive' and
'insulting' — Cori will lead the work to see a progressive Black woman
confirmed to the Supreme Court.

With Roe v. Wade, gun rights, voting rights, affirmative action, and more
on the line, we cannot back down.
