The Democratic Party made mistakes.

Justice Democrats

John, the bulk of the Democratic policy agenda — health care, fighting climate change, paid family and medical leave, lowering prescription drug costs, and so much more — came down to Democratic leadership listening to either the Squad or Joe Manchin.

Unfortunately, the Democratic establishment listened to Joe Manchin and now Build Back Better is “dead” according to Manchin. The Squad were the only ones to vote with the people, while corporate Democrats voted with Manchin.

The Squad and Justice Democrats are the future of politics, but only if we have the resources to elect more of our candidates and re-elect AOC, Ilhan, Rashida, Cori, Jamaal, and Ayanna. Can you chip in $3 to fund our progressive fight for the future?

Check out the update we sent last week and make sure to chip in so we can upend the status quo in the Democratic Party.

Subject: AOC was right about Manchin

John, Joe Manchin isn’t interested in passing any of our progressive priorities. And the Squad knew it from the very beginning. Here’s Manchin joking about obstructing progressive policies in Build Back Better yesterday:

Tweet from reporter Manu Raju reads Sen. Joe Manchin, asked about Build Back Better, said: 'What Build Back Better bill? I don’t know what you guys are talking about.' I asked him if he’s had any talks on the matter since December. 'No, no, no, no. It’s dead.'

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t like Manchin’s apathy in the face of millions who need Democrats to act. Here’s her response:

Tweet from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reads Seniors, kids, & people with disabilities in my community have been sleeping with bubble jackets on in 18 degree nights, despite paying rent, bc the NYCHA funding to fix their heating and capital needs is in BBB. Where should I direct them to wait out the cold? Manchin’s yacht?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley all urged Democrats to make sure Manchin couldn’t pass his bipartisan infrastructure bill WITHOUT also passing Build Back Better. The Squad even voted against the establishment. But the corporate Democratic Party passed the infrastructure bill anyways. And now the core social and economic reforms of the Democratic agenda are (still) being blocked by Manchin.

We need to show that Justice Democrats and the Squad are the future of politics, and the ones that will truly fight for economic, social, racial, and environmental justice. Can you chip in a $3 donation today to stand with the Squad and highlight the failures of the Democratic Party?

Contribute $3

Last year, corporate Democrats joined with Republicans to put climate action, universal pre-K, paid leave, and Medicare expansion at risk. The Squad voted against the political establishment, and for good reason.

The Squad was right not to trust corporate Democrats like Joe Manchin. Corporate Democrats promised the people they would pass Build Back Better if Congress just passed a bipartisan infrastructure bill first. Now, Manchin simply sneers at Build Back Better.

Cori, Jamaal, Alexandria, Rashida, Ilhan, and Ayanna were the only Democrats to vote WITH THE PEOPLE.

When it comes down to it, corporate Democrats do not want to pass popular progressive policies. It’s on the Justice Democrats in Congress — and the grassroots movement behind them — to hold the line in the fight for working people.

We need to back up the Squad. We need to show that we are the future of the Democratic party, not the same old politicians voting with corporate lobbyists and maintaining the status quo. Can you make a $3 donation to Justice Democrats today to protect and expand the Squad in Congress?

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats
