John, we gotta tell you about something pretty crazy.
Tuesday marked *one* year since John Fetterman officially launched this campaign. It’s been a thrill. Getting to meet people around Pennsylvania. Seeing the outpouring of volunteer support, and more than 180,000 donors stepping up to give.
We're not a campaign that obsesses about polls. Really. But if you're counting, we've been ahead — far ahead — in every primary poll. We're polling above the Republicans, too. We have more grassroots donors than any candidate in the race, one of the highest of any Democratic Senate challenger in the country. We have volunteers in 66/67 counties (if you’re from Sullivan County, please let us know).
So let's get this straight… You can be in the lead in the polls… Have the most grassroots donors… Raise the most money… Have more volunteers… And STILL a super PAC can come in and try to nuke your chances of winning?
That's what just happened in our race, John. It really sucks. We are winning this race the right way — more voters, more donors, more volunteers. Our opponents in the primary know that. So now they're resorting to a super PAC to win.
POLITICO just reported that allies of one of our Democratic primary opponents Conor Lamb are raising $8 million to spend on ads to defeat John in this primary. Even more money than we have in the bank. They're not raising that $25 at a time like we are. They're just getting giant, unlimited checks for a super PAC.
How *insane* is that? If you’re an ultra-rich donor and you see a candidate is winning who isn’t your favorite, you just set up a super PAC and pour $8 million into it, and you can change the race?
John, We know we’ve asked each and every one of you for a lot lately. It’s expensive to run a campaign like ours. But John's never needed support more than right now. We’ve got to be able to ensure we can stand up to all the big money — from the Democratic or Republican side.
