Hello Friends,
Cockfighting is illegal throughout the United States on both state and federal levels.
Today we are releasing images (see below) taken inside Charlie’s Pit, a cockfight location in Martin County, Kentucky. Within a few days, we will release video clips of illegal cockfights.
Here’s a picture (below) of pit owner Charlie Glispy, wearing a gun. I guess that’s supposed to scare us.
If you’ve followed SHARK’s work, you know that in the past few weeks, we’ve tried on four different occasions in December and January to get the Kentucky State Police Post 9 to stop this cruel and illegal operation.
Regardless of our repeated efforts, and the efforts of many caring people who joined SHARK in calling the state police, the cops at Post 9 have failed to do their job every time.
This dereliction of duty should result in criminal charges and terminated careers because Charlie’s is just one of a whole group of illegal cockfight locations allowed to operate in Post 9’s patrol area for years, and even decades.
We have video of dead and dying birds being stuffed into garbage bags and then shoved through a locked plexiglass door to dispose of the evidence.
Dead rooster stuffed in bag
Then shoved into a locked chute.
Now the officers of Post 9 have another opportunity to show what they are made of, but I have absolutely no faith that they will do the right thing.
Going forward, let’s pull Melissa Fannin Phelps, (pictured right) the Martin County Attorney, in this. Her contact information is in the description section of this video. Perhaps Ms. Phelps isn’t corrupt like the badged thugs of Post 9.
The next illegal cockfight at Charlie’s is set for this Sunday, February 13. Please reach out to Attorney Phelps and ask her to ensure that the illegal cockfight scheduled at Charlie's Pit on Sunday doesn't take place.

In that spirit, we’ve tried to get the Martin County Health Department to take action against the illegal food operation (see below) at Charlie’s, which doesn’t have a permit to prepare food.
Our investigator witnessed greasy grime all over the place - filth. It’s obvious that the place hasn’t been inspected, and would never get a license, even if it wasn’t part of a criminal operation.
Unfortunately, although we’ve been in touch with the Martin County Health Department for more than a month, no one has bothered to stop those food violations.
I’ll give the Department one more opportunity to jump in and do its job. But if Charlie’s kitchen stays open for one more event, the Martin County Health Department will become the most infamous health department in Kentucky. That’s not a threat - it’s a promise!
We sincerely thank those of you who have joined us in calling Post 9 to try to stop the cockfights! The crooks, badged and otherwise, are waiting for us to get tired and leave. We will show that them we are just getting warmed up!
