Dear Friend,

Last week, I wrote to you to ask for your support in helping to pass the EARN IT Act—the strongest piece of legislation that can confront the explosion of online child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee UNANIMOUSLY voted to pass the EARN IT Act out of committee and onto a full vote in the Senate.

Dawn Hawkins, NCOSE CEO, joined Senators Graham and Blumenthal in a press conference (see 34:00) earlier today as strong bipartisan support was expressed for this bill.

We are moving mountains to protect our kids online and to make sure that every survivor has the ability to restore their privacy and seek justice. Without your voice joined with ours, we could not have been able to accomplish such a feat!

We are eager to see the EARN IT Act progress and look forward to updating you every step of the way.

With appreciation,

Eleanor Gaetan

Vice President and Director of Public Policy

P.S. If you haven't taken action yet, you still can! EARN IT needs all the support it can get as it advances to a full Senate vote.

Dear Friend,

Help Support the EARN IT ACT—our best option to protect kids online!

The EARN IT Act (Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies Act) is the strongest piece of legislation that can confront the explosion of online child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The legislation:

  • Removes immunity for social media and technology companies that knowingly facilitate the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Gives victims a path to justice and possibility of restoring their privacy through litigation
  • Updates existing federal statutes to replace “child pornography” with the more accurate term “child sexual abuse material” (CSAM)
  • Establishes a commission of survivors, technology reps, privacy and civil rights experts, and other stakeholders to recommend best practices for tech companies to respond to the astronomical increase in online sexual exploitation of children

Technology companies—including platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and more—currently have blanket legal immunity although their platforms circulate CSAM, all while destroying victims lives.

EARN IT will provide the necessary incentive for Big Tech to protect kids online.

Take action now to protect children from online exploitation!

Contact your Members of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor and support the EARN IT Act today.

In appreciation,

Eleanor Gaetan

Vice President and Director of Public Policy
