We deserve privacy and a say in how our information is shared.
Do you know who is collecting your data online? Or how it’s being used?
Most don’t understand all the different ways their data is being harvested and used against them. We deserve privacy and a say in how our information is shared.
From Cambridge Analytica, who harvested millions of people’s Facebook data, to Equifax, who carelessly exposed the personal information of 143 million customers, data breaches are escalating at an alarming rate.
With each data breach, we learn more and more about how companies are deceiving users, hoarding data, and not following proper security guidelines.
We cannot keep reacting — we must have the tools available to us to prevent breaches and understand how and when our data is being used. This is why we need an Internet Bill of Rights.
It’s time that we guarantee Internet freedom and enact an Internet Bill of Rights. If you support Ro’s fight to make the internet a fair and safe place, please consider chipping in a few dollars towards our re-election campaign today.
An Internet Bill of Rights would guarantee Net Neutrality, protect citizens, and protect your data. As we’ve seen, when left to their own devices, tech companies will not regulate themselves adequately. But that’s not surprising – after all, what other private industry is allowed to write their own rules?
We are far past the need for common sense regulations for tech companies and online platforms who deal in consumer and citizen data.
Without an Internet Bill of Rights, we can expect more leaks and breaches. That’s the future we’re looking at in a world without Internet rights to put data and privacy back in the hands of the people.
Ro is leading the fight for an Internet Bill of Rights. If you support a more fair, safe, and equitable internet, please consider supporting Ro’s campaign today.
